An important month like Ramadan needs planning and preparation early. Start planning for this beautiful month at least 2 months in advance.
Make a list of things you want to accomplish this Ramadan
Example: 3 habits that you want to change or quit and 3 good deeds that you want to start this year.
Make a Dua' list:
This will include your daily Duas as well as all the special Duas. (Keep adding to this list daily or as desired).
Start reviewing and memorizing Quran:
Read the meanings of Ayahs and reflect on them. This will improve your concentration and contemplation during Salaah and Taraweeh prayer.
Make up your fasts from previous years:
And do extra fasts especially in the months of Rajab and Sha'ban. This will get you in the habit of fasting.
Reflect on your character:
Be more charitable, humble and caring.
Upon reaching the month of Rajab and Sha'ban, when the Prophet (SalAllahu alayhi wasalam) sighted the moon of Rajab (two months before Ramadan) he used to pray to Allah in the following words: Allahumma barik lana fi Rajab wa Sha'ban wa ballighna Ramadan.
"O Allah! Make the months of Rajab and Sha'ban blessed for us, and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e. prolong our life up to Ramadan, so that we may benefit from its merits and blessings)"
