Dar al-Uloom was founded in 1871 in Cairo, Egypt.  It is both an Islamic and modern secondary educational institution.  It began as a means to introduce those in mosque colleges to new knowledge emanating from the West.  In 1946, it was incorporated into Cairo University and the faculty is delegated to offer B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in the Arabic language and literature and Islamic studies.

All of the Arabic teachers of Studio Arabiya have graduated with higher education degrees in the Arabic Language – many of them being from Dar al-Uloom.
