Tip #1: Have your child help you pick out their Quran teacher
When your child participates in choosing the teacher with you, it makes things a lot more comfortable for them. It is important that your child has a proper rapport with their teacher and feels relaxed around their teacher. When this happens, they actually have a say and can take ownership  for their learning and build an important bond with their Quran teacher from the beginning. Having that special bond with a Quran teacher is crucial because Quran and Arabic are spiritually special subjects to learn, and when you enjoy the presence of someone, it makes things a whole lot easier.
Tip #2: Allow your child to pick out their Quran class supplies
Even something as small as picking out a cool folder with unique colors and designs can encourage a child to be eager to learn. Going to the store together and allowing them to pick out their own folders, notebooks, dry erase boards, and other supplies they may need are all impactful in the exciting journey to learn Quran. And what about letting them pick their very first Mushaf? Some Muslim bookstores now offer a wide selection of colorful masaahif to choose from!
Tip #3: Plan and prepare rewards with your child
What gets someone more interested in accomplishing something? We all know it. Rewards! Even in Islam, when we do good things, we are hoping to attain the love and pleasure of Allah SWT as well as to prepare incredible rewards for ourselves in this life and the next. Just like adults, children desire rewards to achieve a goal. It keeps them motivated and disciplined.
Sitting down with your child and coming up with specific rewards for each of their achievements will be extremely beneficial for both of you on their Quran journey. For example, each time they learn a new surah or juz, they can receive a reward they would like. Some children may like cash, while others may like a special activity together, a special treat, or to go somewhere fun! The list is endless. The desire to achieve that reward will help them strive to learn the Quran and that is what is most important.

May Allah SWT bless you and your children on their lifelong journey to understand, memorize, and maintain the Quran in their hearts and minds. Ameen!
