The Best Islamic Activity: Family Quran Reading

What’s a better way to connect with your faith than reading the holy Quran?
Not only is it the best Islamic activity to do, but it’s also the most rewarding as well.

Building a daily habit of Quran reading as a family doesn’t need to take long sessions.
Remember: It’s better to do something small but consistent rather than something big and rare.

It could be just 30 or 15 minutes a day.
Just make sure that it is on everyone’s schedule and that everyone will be available at that time.
You can then decide, as a family, what you want this special time to look like.
It can be:

  • Sitting in a circle and taking turns to recite—each at their own pace.
  • Everyone is in their room, reading or reciting on their own.

What if you can’t find a time that works for everyone every day?
That’s okay!
We get it; just make sure to check in with everyone and give them friendly reminders. Perhaps over the weekend, you can find a bit of time to make this happen, Insha’Allah.

Get Involved with Local Mosque Islamic Activities

Mosques usually have plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to get involved in Islamic activities.
This is true for Muslim activities such as volunteering, especially for teens.

Here are more examples of Islamic activities for students that you can do with local mosques:

  •     Help move furniture around or clean the mosque
  •     Assist with the food distribution or clothes donations
  •     Organize and take part in study circles or Quran memorization classes

If there are no Islamic institutions near you, find a local nonprofit that shares Islamic values.

This can be a refugee center or even an environmental organization.
It’s a great opportunity to bond with your child, especially teenagers.
What’s more, it helps you model community engagement and Islamic activities for them.
